International Certificate Of Competence (ICC)

Sailing abroad

The International Certificate of Competence (ICC) is required by most European countries as evidence of a basic level of competence. There is actually no international agreed competence certificate and the onus is on you to check the requirements of the countries you are visiting.
If you do not hold an RYA Day Skipper certificate or equivalent you will need to carry out a test of basic boat handling, navigation ability and knowledge of the collision regulations.

ASSESSMENT DURATION

One day assessment. Please note that this is not a training course and the instructor cannot help you to complete the tasks.

INSTRUCTOR – STUDENT RATIO

Minimum 2, maximum 4 students to 1 Instructor and boat.

PRIOR EXPERIENCE

Sailing to a level of RYA Day Skipper and knowledge equivalent to RYA Day Skipper theory level.

COURSE COST

The course costs £280 per person plus £47 payable directly to the RYA who will issue the certificate.
