Whether you need to skipper some serious passages before taking a Yachtmaster exam, want to build your sea miles in a safe and enjoyable environment or simply want to try out offshore cruising as an active crew member, Sailing Life Academy can provide a great experience.

For those trying to amass the mileage and skippering hours required before attempting a Yachtmaster exam, these cruises are ideal. When booking, please let us know your plans and we can ensure that you are nominated to skipper at least one of the longer passages and some of the more complex pilotage too. The instructor will be on board, but, barring necessity, will enable you to skipper the boat.

Complete beginners to sailing would be advised to take a course such as RYA Competent Crew before throwing themselves into a longer cruise as you will find the whole thing much more enjoyable as an active member of the crew. However, only basic knowledge is required and many relative beginners have had a great time and learnt a huge amount about themselves and massively improved their skills on these trips.
